Services Offered By La Guilde
La Guilde is a French nonprofit organization. All of its active members are voluntary. The team is working on an "E-CATALOGING" tool.
As any Content Management System ("CMS") La Guilde makes it easier to publish content online by centralizing and standardizing data management via a back-office that is accessible to non-computer scientists. Among open source projects, ours stands out through its specialization in e-cataloging - i.e. the publication of data having similarities to one another: galleries, merchant catalogues, scientific databases, classified ads, press reviews, org. charts... There are other projects aiming at different applications. Among other things we recommend SPIP for online community and webzine management. La Guilde has worked for 5 years on this as yet entirely French project. The whole team at La Guilde hopes you will appreciate the quality of the offered service.
By becoming a member - whether with a basic or privilege account - you can use the following services:
1. Basic membership :
Cost: EUR 19.80 / year (or EUR 1.65 / month). No fee is claimed if you do not wish to be a member after a month's tryout. It can be paid for several months in advance so as to reduce banking costs if you like to support La Guilde.
- Databases creation (catalogues). Thanks to the tool developped by our association you can create any type of database. These databases may be published online on their own or they can be integrated into a website within an iframe (see details in the back office). This highly evolved tool was conceived so that it could be accessible to non-computer scientists who know nothing about programming SQL requests.
- E-commerce : goods or services sales, access sales. As a member you can use the many e-commerce functionalities made available to you. Depending on the use, intermediation is free or a commission is charged - about 1% - as a participation to SP+ - the credit card verification tool provided by the Caisse d'Epargne and integrated into our e-cataloging tool. - Webpages hosting : La Guilde also hosts your webpages, thus letting you integrate your databases even more easily into your website.
- Email address : La Guilde gives you a free email address in the form your_login@maniasys.com.
Note: In order to limit bandwidth abuse, permanent use of FTP and high resolution image display are subject to the payment of a participation. Of course use of FTP for less than a day - e.g. to update one's site - remains free. Besides, we require that members generating over 1 Gb of data transfer per month (0.5% of our members) pay EUR 5 / 1 Gb of data transferred.
2. Become a "privileged" member : EUR 150 / year (or EUR 12.50 / month)
As a privileged member you have access to all basic options plus two restricted options and you benefit from reductions making bandwidth limiting functions more affordable.
- Domain name hosting (only available to dues-paying members) and hosting or related email addresses
NB: La Guilde can register or transfer your domain name for EUR 30
- Permanent use of FTP (e.g. for frequent uploading) : EUR 0.90 per month
NB : use for less than a day is free, as in basic membership
- High resolution image display : EUR 0.50 per month (50% reduction)
You also have access to 2 additional pay options :
- Getting more bandwidth (EUR 5 / month)
- Managing a community (EUR 10 per month)
This option includes domain name hosting and access to an additional administrator interface allowing the creation and management of a directory "a la Yahoo" - unlimited levels, possibility to put items at intermediate levels - which dynamically lists your galleries and catalogues. For picture galleries (e.g.: xtrempix.com) or merchant catalogues featuring numerous items categorized in ranges
3. Services available to all (members and non-members alike)
- Domain name registration and forwarding (EUR 30): ".fr", ".re" or .com, .org, .info, etc...
La Guilde is affiliated with the Afnic, the French Organization for Internet Naming
- Dedicated server hosting and hardware hosting (on estimate)
- Security consulting: configuration, monitoring, remote saving (on estimate)
- Website creation (on estimate)
- Implementation of content handling solutions for intranet, extranet or Internet sites (on estimate)
- Database translation
- Easy : just send La Guilde a .csv file by email specifying the desired translation language.
- Fast and secure : send a signed order along with 30% of the payment, the remainder is payable upon viewing the result, receive your translated file and invoice by email.
- Affordable : EUR 56 + EUR 8 / Kb of data in .csv format - equivalent to 2.5 Kb of data in Excel format or EUR 3.6 / 100 words - for average text complexity*.
To give you an idea: 1 webpage of text is 0.5 Kb on average, so 50 webpages will cost you:
25 Kb x EUR 8 + EUR 56 = EUR 256 (VAT not included). If you find cheaper than that in France we refund you twice the difference.
